Sarah Beasley - Occupational Therapist
Owner & Practice Manager of Strides Therapy Clinic
Currently Strides Therapy Clinic is the only clinic of it's kind in Ireland. I am passionate about the service we provide to our clients and their families ensuring that all sessions are client-centred, fun and effective.
I am also committed to the development of hippotherapy in Ireland, and ensuring that evidence based practice is key in service delivery.
Currently I am studying towards my exams to be a Clinical Specialist in the use of hippotherapy as a treatment strategy.
On a family holiday as a young teen, while riding a horse on a beach in Kerry I was asked "What do you want to do when you're older" My reply "Work with horse's and people with special needs, I just don't know how".
Fast forward through a degree, a masters, some travel and many jobs and Strides Therapy Clinic was founded.
Horse's have always been a passion and working in the area of disability has always been a love, so combining the two together has been an amazing rollercoaster dream.
On completion of the BA Early Childhood Studies I worked with the Brother's of Charity in a range of services and also in Togher Family Centre in both the Creche and Preschools.
While on a trip in Canada I discovered for the first time hippotherapy.
I returned from Canada and completed the Masters Occupational Therapy in The University of Limerick.
I went on and trained under the American Hippotherapy Association in both Fundacio Therapia a Cavall, Barcelona, Spain and in Skyline Therapy Services, Edgewood, New Mexico. I have been lucky enough to train with occupational therapists, physiotherapists and speech and language therapists from all around the world, giving me the opportunity to develop my knowledge and skills in many different areas.
